Welcome to the Presenters and Speakers page of the SLIE Biennial Conference 2024!We are honored to have a distinguished group of industry leaders and experts sharing their knowledge and insights with us. Below, you will find the profiles of our esteemed presenters and keynote speakers, each bringing a wealth of experience and expertise in various fields of engineering.


Ing Trudy Morgan FICE, FSLIE, MBA, C.Eng B. Eng (Hons)
Ing Trudy Morgan is President of the Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers, Council Member of the Professional Engineering Regulatory Council; Co-founder and first President of the Sierra Leone Women Engineers; Africa’s Representative on the Commonwealth Engineering Council; a trustee with the UK-based charity Engineers for Change (Sierra Leone); and the International Representative for the UK Institution of Civil Engineers.
She started her career with Sir Robert McAlpine & Sons working on iconic buildings in London, followed by 11 years designing and building railway bridges and infrastructure across the UK. She completed her MBA at Cranfield and spent the next 10 working as a management consultant and business development specialist leading teams across 17 countries designing and constructing offices for a large UK government agency. She returned to Sierra Leone in 2010 where she has worked as a Consultant with the IFC, World Bank; and the United Nations. She has worked in many sectors including transportation, education, health, ICT amongst others.Passionate about youth and women empowerment, she has started several initiatives that support the growth and development of young people and women. Ing Trudy made history by becoming the first female Fellow from Africa, of the UK Institution of Civil Engineers. She has won several awards locally for her work with women engineers. In June 2020, she became the first female President of the Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers in its 50-year anniversary. And in November 2023, she was named as one of 274 engineering icons by Transport for London and the Royal Academy of Engineering.Ing Trudy runs a small consultancy (AXIS 360) through which she combines logic and analytical skills from her engineering background with business management, commercial and team leadership skills to provide a financial and strategic capability that is relevant to today’s ever-changing business environment. Her empowerment platform ITM Inspires continues to build structures to enable young people to see STEM as a career for all.


Shadi Al-Gerjawi
Shadi Al-Gerjawi is the Chief Executive Officer of Africell Sierra Leone, a position he has held since April 2011. With a rich background in electrical engineering and extensive experience in the telecommunications industry, Shadi has played a pivotal role in advancing Africell's operations and expanding its market presence in West Africa.
Mr. Al Gerjawi has held several positions at Africell Gambia including Chief Operating Officer (Jan. – Apr. 2011), Chief Commercial Officer (Apr 2007 – Dec. 2010), Commercial Director (Nov. 2005- Mar. 2007), Business Development Manager (Feb - Oct 2005), Prepaid, VMS, SMSC & Roaming Manager (Aug. 2003 – Feb 2005), Telecoms Engineer (Aug. 2001 – Aug. 2003) and Sales Engineer at Commercial Networks Lebanon (Jan. –Aug. 2001)


Ing Festus Oba Jones
Ing. Jones is a Civil/ Transportation Engineer with 35 years’ experience in the design and supervision of various transportation, traffic, highways and road safety projects in the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa. He holds a B.Eng in Civil Engineering from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone and an MSc in Transportation from Cranfield University in the UK.
He has worked on schemes funded by international agencies such as The African Development Bank, The World Bank and the European Union.He is a Registered Professional Engineer and a Certified Road Safety Professional of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.He is an experienced Team Leader and Project Manager in a number of Urban Transportation and Planning schemes which have involved studies on accident reduction, cost benefit assessments, travel demand analysis, travel time reduction and Environmental Impact Assessments in Sierra Leone, Liberia and the UK.Ing Jones is President -Elect of the Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers. He also oversees the Membership and Welfare Committee and the Ethics and Regulation Committee.Ing Jones is very passionate about training. He is currently Founder and CEO of TECH TC SL Ltd, providing training and civil engineering consultancy services.Prior to working in Sierra Leone, Ing Jones worked in the public and private sectors in the UK.Ing Jones is a keen Lawn Tennis Player and other hobbies include cycling, movies, reading and music.


Ing Mohamed Babatunde Cole
Ing Mohamed Babatunde Cole is a fellow of the Institute of Engineers in Sierra Leone; and a member of the Professional Engineers Registration Council.
He holds a degree in Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Sierra Leone; and has numerous certifications in strategic leadership, management, operations and marketing courses organised both locally internationally.
He has a wealth of experience in banking, finance and insurance, having served as Director on the Boards of various Companies including Ecobank Sierra Leone Limited and Leone Dock Labour Company Limited. He currently serves as Director on the Boards of other prominent institutions including National Petroleum SL Ltd (NP), WAICA Reinsurance Corporation Plc; Reliance Insurance Company Limited, Leonoil Company Limited Company and Petroleone Limited.
He began his illustrious career as Pupil Engineer at the Forest Industry Corporation in 1977 and then as Design and Project Engineer at the Sierra Rutile Company Limited. In 1982, he joined BP Sierra Leone (which later changed its name to NP) as Operations Engineer and rose steadily through the ranks at NP as Marketing Manager, General Manager and eventually as Managing Director of the Company. As Managing Director, he rebranded the NP Company and took it beyond the boundaries of Sierra Leone, to become an international Group structured Company. He Retired as Managing Director of the NP Company in 2015. He is currently the Executive Chairman of the NP Group Limited – which is the holding Company for NP Sierra Leone, NP Liberia, NP Gambia, NP Guinea and NP Cote D’Ivoire.


Ing Edmond Benjamin Nonie
Ing Nonie is a Mechanical Engineer, Project Manager, and Development Administrator with over 10 years of experience in Energy Investment Analysis, Innovation and Data Science, and the International Civil Service.
He holds a Bachelor of Mechanical and Maintenance Engineering from Fourah Bay College.Over the span of his career, Ing Nonie has worked in 5 countries including Sierra Leone, led 34 complex engineering projects, and was a global technical specialist for the UNICEF Office of Innovation, in Sweden where he advised technology applications in all 190 countries.Ing Nonie is an active corporate member of the Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers.


Ing Kwabena Bempong
Ing. Kwabena Bempong, is a distinguished Highway and Structural Engineer with over Thirty years of experience and the current Chief Executive Officer of Associated Consultants Limited, a private Engineering Consultancy firm and one of the oldest indigenous firms in Ghana.
Ing. Bempong completed the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology with a BSc. (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering in 1993. He was awarded a Netherlands Fellowship Programme Scholarship to further his studies in Road Engineering for Development, at the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft)/IHE in the Netherlands and completed with a Master of Science degree with honours in Roads and Pavement Engineering in 1998.Kwabena joined the Ghana Institution of Engineering in 1995, where he served as a member of the Membership committee of Council for fourteen years. He has also been a member of the Council for the past sixteen years and now the President for the 2023/25 Council year.He is a member of the Ghana Consulting Engineers Association, Institute of Directors-Ghana and the Ghana Transportation Professionals Forum. Kwabena has attended several local and international conferences, courses and programmes. He has authored/ co-authored some technical papers which have been presented at these conferences.Ing Bempong has undertaken several design and supervision assignments in Highway and Structural Engineering Notable among them are the flagship Pokuase Interchange and Local Roads project which received the “Highly Commendable Project of the year” award at the Fidic Contract Users Conference in London for the year 2022. Furthermore, he has served in various capacities from Assistant Engineer to Resident Engineer on other road projects including the Ejura to Gyato Zongo, Kwame Nkrumah Circle to Achimota dual carriageway including the Alajo Interchange, Eastern bypass and Lake Roads including the Asokwa Interchange in Kumasi, Abuakwa – Bibiani, Apemenim Junction to Tarkwa, BRT infrastructure on the Amasaman to Accra CBD corridor, Transport Terminals at Achimota, Odawna, Neoplan station, Ofankor and Amasaman. Building projects include Trasacco Housing development, Regimanuel Gray Estate Company limited including the East Airport Development, Klagon & Community 13 RSS Housing projects, Black Ivy developments at Ayimensah and Oyarifa Park, Libi Homes and Milton Hotel Apartments, Buckhead at Community 26, 14, Airport & Cantonments residential areas and many other residential and commercial buildings. He is also the Board Chairman of Mawums Construction Ltd.


Ing Margaret Aina Oguntala FNSE
Ing Margaret Aina Oguntala is the 34th President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. She is a multi-talented woman who, in recognition of her
impressive skills and accomplishments, has been aptly described as a
distinguished woman of "substantial substance," by a renowned Lawyer
and Elder Statesman, Aare Afe Babalola, SAN.
A graduate of Chemical Engineering from the University of Benin in Nigeria, She is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers, (NSChE), Nigerian Institution of Environment
Engineers (NIEE) and Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers (NiSafetyE).
She has dedicated herself to embodying traits such as diligence, teamwork, excellence, and vision.
Ing Oguntala is the MD/CEO of Bamsat Nigeria Limited, a firm specialized in environmental consultancy, oil and gas services, fire and safety. She is also the Group Executive Director, Kenol Nigeria Limited.Margaret's service has been exemplary throughout her over 29-year membership with Nigerian Society of Engineers as she rose through the ranks. Engr. Margaret Oguntala is an unparalleled leader who has made groundbreaking contributions to engineering and has been rightfully acknowledged for her exceptional intellect. She has earned over 57 awards and confidently presented more than 35 papers, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to advancing knowledge in her field.Margaret's career achievements are impressive, but her influence does not
stop there. Her mentorship, leadership skills and compassionate nature have
profoundly impacted those she has worked with.
Margaret's crowning achievement came when she assumed the role of the
first female president in the 66-year history of the Nigerian Society of
Engineers (NSE) on 1st January 2024. Her transformative journey from a
Prefect of the School to the President of Nigerian Society of Engineers reflects
hard work, resilience and a commitment to Rebirthing NSE for Growth,
Empowerment and Advancement of Engineering in Nigeria.


Ing Shammah Kiteme
Ing Shammah Kiteme is an accomplished practicing Civil Structural Engineer. He has practiced in the areas of Structural Engineering and Waste Water treatment for over 15 years. He has consulted both in Kenya and in other countries in Africa. He has delivered key projects with multidisciplinary teams of Engineers drawn from other countries.
He is a registered Consulting Engineer with Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) with Project Management International- USA.A fellow of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya, Ing Shammah has been a leader in the Engineering sector from development of technical standards and specifications to design reviews. This includes the appointment to be a committee member of the National Committee on Implementation of Eurocodes where he serves. Eng. Shammah was also appointed by the PS Public Works to be a committee member of the National Committee on finalization of the Building Code. The Building Code 2024 was published on 1st March 2024.Ing Shammah was elected as an IEK Council member in 2018 and served two terms after he was re-elected in 2020. In 2022 he was elected as the Honorary Secretary of IEK and has led a great transformation of the institution including delivering two strategic plans 2019-2023 and 2024-2029. He was elected President of IEK in 2024 and is serving for the period 2024-2026.Ing Shammah Chairs a committee on Construction Working Group under the Federation of Africa Engineering Organizations (FAEO).Ing Shammah Kiteme writes opinion pieces in the dailies and has written articles in all the major dailies. He regularly comments on Engineering and infrastructure matters in TV talks and other media Interviews.Ing Shammah Kiteme is a thought leader in Engineering and Infrastructure issues having engaged local, continental and global audiences. He has presented technical papers in various conferences both locally and abroad.


Ing Obafemi Davies
Ing. Obafemi Davies is a Professional Engineer registered with the Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers [SLIE] and the Professional Engineers Registration Council [PERC].
He is a practicing Civil Engineer with specialty in Geotechnical Engineering, a discipline in which he holds a Masters Degree from the University of Toledo, UT, Ohio, USA. His professional experience span almost (25) years in the design, construction, supervision and management of civil and subsurface exploration projects for Road pavement design; Road construction and Rehabilitation; Dams; multi-storey buildings; Jetties and Retaining walls, Mechanically Stabilized Earth Walls; investigations on ground improvement techniques; Hydrology, Groundwater modeling and assessment. He is also a member of relevant professional institutions both locally and internationally. He is a Senior Lecturer and was the Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, a position he served for almost 5 years.He has served as a Short term consultant to the World Bank and consultant to engineering businesses.He's a family man and a Minister of the Gospel.


Ing Louise Chaytor
Louise Chaytor is an ICT Expert, Corporate Trainer, former University Professor and entrepreneur, who has over 20 years of experience. She possesses a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering and a Masters degree in Computer Science.
Ing Chaytor has gradually advanced in her career as a Director of Internet Services, Director Information Systems and Director Capacity Building and is currently the Managing Director of Research Centre for Development in Science and Technology SL Ltd. Prior to this she was Assistant Professor of Information Technology at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.Ing Chaytor has successfully managed and completed several projects for various institutions including government and NGOs. She has developed several enterprise software systems, websites and database information systems for various institutions including Extension and Advisory Services to Rural Women in Sierra Leone and Enterprise Software Development of Domestic Tax Information System and MRP (Monitoring, Research and Planning) software using KPIs for National Revenue Authority (NRA). She has participated in selection of potential SME entrepreneurs, provided entrepreneurship training to participants, done business advising and conducted corporate training in custom IT courses in various national settings in the sub-region.She is a fellow of the Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers and President of the Sierra Leone Women Engineers special interest group. She represents SLIE on the NCTVA Council and the National Science Technology and Innovation Council.Her interests include renewable energy research and telecommunications research.


Herman Kojo Chinery- HESSE
Herman Kojo Chinery-Hesse is recognized globally as a leading figure in technology innovation.
Listed among the top 100 global thinkers by Foreign Policy Magazine, he has earned numerous awards, including the GUBA award in the UK, Ghana Millennium Excellence Awards for IT, the Ghana Club 100 Award for Most Innovative Company, the Outstanding Ghanaian Professional Award by GPA Awards UK. and the Mobile World Lifetime Achievement Award.Additionally, he received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Texas State University, a hall of fame counting amongst its members, luminaries like the former US president Lindon B Johnson.He was the first African to receive this honor.In 1991, Chinery-Hesse co-founded theSOFTtribe Ltd, one of Africa's earliest and most prominent software houses from his bedroom in Accra.He currently serves as the Commonwealth Chairman for Business and Technology Initiatives for Africa.His innovative works in e-payments, such as the "Sundiata" payment system on the MX Platform in 2008, pioneered financial technology in Africa.His company has developed award-winning products like Hei Julor!!!" which is a successful mass market mobile-based security alert system.SOFTtribe LTD has proven its prowess in national utility billing and payroll systems and was recently selected to be responsible for all technology in the just passed 2024 Africa Games which it executed seamlessly.SOFTtribe was also a pioneer in selling software designed and developed by indigenous Africans into multinational companies in the early 90s.SOFTtribe has also done extensive work in partnership with international organizations such as The United Nations, Ford Foundation and Mastercard Foundation.Currently, he is working on Afrikan Echoes, a mobile
app aimed at delivering and selling raw African stories via audiobooks to the world.
Chinery-Hesse has spoken at prestigious institutions including Oxford University, Harvard Business School, Wharton Business School, Chatham House, Tech4Africa and Spotify.As a double TED Fellow, he is frequently featured in international media such as CNN, BBC, and Al Jazeera etc.He has also been profiled in magazines like Ghana Business and Finance Times, Financial Times UK, The Guardian, Forbes Magazine, IEEE Magazine, Oxford Business Group, New African Magazine, Foreign Policy Magazine and INC Magazine amongst others.Ranked 17th among the 20 Notable Black Innovators in Technology, Chinery-Hesse is also listed as one of Africa’s Top 20 Tech Influencers and among the 100 most influential Africans of our time by international publications.He serves as an assessor for the Commercial Courts
of Ghana and holds positions on numerous company boards including the Ghana Communication Technology University.
Chinery-Hesse holds a Bachelor of Science in Technology from Texas State University and attended Westlake High School in Texas and Mfantsipim School in Ghana.His contributions to technology and innovation have earned him the moniker “The Bill Gates of Africa" by INC magazine and the BBC.He has inspired a generation of tech innovators across Africa, many of whom consider him an African technology folk hero.


Edleen Elba
Edleen Elba, a Leader in Business and People Management, is the Managing Director of ELBA GROUP, a multi-sector investment company in Sierra Leone.
With over two decades of experience spanning the public and private sectors in several countries, Edleen brings a unique perspective and expertise to her work. She is a Chartered Global Management Accountant and Chartered Human Resources Analyst, who consistently breaks barriers and paves the way for others by demonstrating exceptional leadership, and driving growth and innovation in various industries.Edleen's impact extends beyond the business world. She is also the Chair of the TVET Coalition Steering Committee, dedicated to promoting Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to empower young people, the Chair of the Fundraising and Awareness Committee of Well Woman Clinic, and Vice President 2 of the Sierra Leone Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture.Edleen's commitment to learning, youth development and women's empowerment is unwavering, and she serves as an inspiration to women and girls who encounter her.


Modupe Williams
Modupe Williams is a chartered civil engineer, a chartered project professional and strategic planner with over 30-years’ experience in providing support to city and government authorities, development corporations in defining and implementing urban planning policies and developing projects to create more sustainable cities. This extends to the planning and delivery of major infrastructure projects linked to the economic development and sustainability of cities.
Other areas of specialist skills:
• Strategic urban / transport planning and policy formulation
• Organization transformation and change management specialist
• Delivery of complex multi-stakeholder projects
• Implementing project recovery plans.
He is the co-founder and current chairman of the UK Charity – Engineers for Change (Sierra Leone) and works as an Integrated Municipal Expert adviser to Freetown City Council.


Ing Abdul-Rahman Conteh
Ing Abdul-Rahman Conteh is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in civil engineering, building construction, project management, and business administration. He holds a BSc. and MSc. in Civil Engineering from Rostov-on-Don Engineering Institute, USSR, and an MBA with a concentration in Project Management from Strayer University, Washington, DC. He is also a licensed Building Inspector specializing in residential and commercial projects in New Jersey, USA.
Currently, Ing Conteh serves as the CEO of ARC Civil Engineering Construction Services. His career includes significant roles such as Estate Engineer at the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA), Construction Team Lead in the US Marine Corps and Major Structural Defects Analyst for the State of New Jersey. He has also contributed to academia as a part-time lecturer in Project Management at IPAM (USL).Ing Conteh is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Project Management Institute, the Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers, and the Institute of Construction Consultants. His extensive expertise and leadership make him a respected figure in the engineering and project management communities.


Ing Georgette Greene
Ing. Georgette Greene is a Civil Engineer with 18 years post-graduate work experience in the UK and Sierra Leone. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering from Nottingham Trent University and an MSc in Civil Engineering from University of Surrey. She continues her personal and professional development and to fulfil her lifelong quest for learning by regularly attending short courses, conferences and workshops.
Georgette started her working life with Rodgers Leask Ltd in the UK, a reputable Engineering Company. Some of her work included designing buildings, residential developments and civil engineering structures spanning various sectors including commerce, education, health and tourism. In addition to working in the UK, she has held full time and consultancy roles in both the Gambia and Sierra Leone.She has worked successfully in diverse roles including Structural Engineering, Quality Assurance and more recently Project Management and Urban Transport.
Her experience has been enhanced by leading and working with diverse teams in engineering and non-engineering related projects.
In addition to her day job, she continues to dedicate her efforts to the advancement of the Engineering profession through her work with the Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers (SLIE) as Vice President providing strategic oversight on both the Education and Conference committees.Georgette, as an International Finance Corporation (IFC) trained Board Professional, successfully represented the SLIE on the Boards of Sierra Leone Roads Authority and the Sierra Leone Port Authority.In addition to her professional career, Georgette is an active member of the Rotary Club of Freetown Sunset, where she serves her community with her Talent, Time and Treasures.Her most important hobby is dancing because it is so much fun and it contributes to her daily steps goal. She also loves chilling, visiting new places, reading a good book and eating ice cream and doughnuts.


Ing Tatiana Sesay
Current affiliation: CEO of MOG Investment (Best Innovative Engineering Start-up Award in West Africa), International Business Management Consultant of International Fund for Economic and Cultural Cooperation in Russia
Relevant experience: have been actively engaged in numerous international and local African initiatives since 2008
Accomplishments and achievements: MSLIE, Member of Forbes BLK, Member of Association of Energy Engineers, author of numerous engineering, scientific, and business articles since 2022, Nominated as one of the 50 leading African investors under 40
Education and qualifications: Bachelor degree in Mining Technology (Russia), Doctorate Degree in Psychology (Russia), certified engineer for the Patent technology of artificial marble productionPersonal interests: Business analysis, psychology, hypnotherapy and NLP


Ing Davephine Tholley
Davephine Tholley is a vibrant Sierra Leonean Civil Engineer relentless drive to effect change. A 2021/2022 Chevening Scholar, she holds an MSc in Engineering Business Management from the University of Sussex. She is a corporate member of the Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers and serves on the council as the Publicity Secretary. As an Operations Management Consultant in the Mayor’s Delivery Unit at Freetown City Council, she focuses on WASH, tree planting, and waste management. Davephine is active in women's and children's rights organizations. She was recognised in June 2015 as one of Africa's Most Outstanding Emerging Women Leaders by the Moremi Initiative for Women's Leadership in Africa. She is a 2018 TechWomen Fellow, MIT Global Entrepreneurship Bootcamp alumna, and 2019 Women4Climate mentee. Her hobbies include volunteering, reading, movies, hiking, music, swimming, writing, painting, and DIY arts and crafts.


Ing Obinna Anthony Browne
Ing. Browne is a dynamic Sierra Leonean committed to improving his nation through engineering and technology. As a corporate member of the Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers, he is a consulting structural engineer for prominent firms such as Techsult and Co, Frederick Bruce Limited, CSK Global Company, etc.
Obinna's career began at Techsult and Co, one of the largest civil engineering consultancies in Sierra Leone, where he made significant contributions as a structural engineer. His notable projects include the structural designs of; the Lumley Market, Mount Zion Training and Retreat Center, the Lumley to Tokeh Road, etc.Additionally, Obinna is the Co-founder of Peculiar Labs, a vibrant tech and engineering startup. His innovative approach has earned him respect in the field of structural engineering.


Ing Dr Mudasiru Bola J.
FNSE, FNICE, FNIHTE, FIHE, FIPMA, DFILMMD, FIPMC, CFPM, M. ASCE
Ing Dr Mudasiru Bola is an accomplished Civil Engineer and Safety Professional with over 19 years of professional experience in Civil Engineering and Construction Management. He has operated with diversified domain projects in civil engineering ranging from medium to large scale industries. He has expertise in project cost estimation, negotiations for projects at various levels, up to date knowledge about various government and private body regulations and well experienced in project management.

Ing Dr Mudasiru Bola is the Principal Partner/CEO of Prolarank Nigeria Limited (Construction and Engineering firm). He worked with various construction companies such as P.W. He supervised, and was responsible for leading and managing projects, team members in various road and bridge, civil and steel structure erection projects across Nigeria. Ing Dr Brian Conton, MSLIE
Dr. Conton is an accomplished Data Scientist, Biosecurity expert, rehabilitation Doctor and fitness guru who graduated from FBC’s Department of Electrical Engineering in 1988. He is Director of Leone Preparatory School and owns Physio-Fitness Rehabilitation Centre in Freetown, Sierra Leone that is completely solar powered. He uses medical protocols and innovative exercise based treatments for patients to fulfill a variety of health goals.
In 2014 he conceptualized and led a multidisciplinary team from National Security, Public health, private and NGO sectors to rescue all left over Ebola samples in Sierra Leone. He designed and co-wrote the database that tracks these samples throughout the world and assigns values based on probability theory to them for future research.
He possesses a Doctorate in Physical Therapy specializing in cultural contingency effects on Workforce development, an MBA, a BSc in Engineering and certifications in Data Science from Columbia University


Ing Dr Sheriff Kamara
Sheriff Kamara grew up at Kroo Town Road (Kutor Road) and attended Government Secondary Technical School. He holds two Bachelor’s degrees from Fourah Bay College; BSc Economics and B.Eng Mechanical, two Master’s degrees, a PhD and an ACCA part 1 from the UK. He is the Current Head of Department of Mechanical and Maintenance Engineering at FBC. He has worked in both commercial and Engineering industries in Sierra Leone and the UK. Currently, he is researching on Computational Fluid Dynamics, Finite Element Modelling (with reference to Improved Cook Stoves) and utilization of wastes to produce varying products. He has published in peer reviewed journals and presented papers in international conferences.


Ing Simeon Stevenson Turay
Ing Turay is a Registered Professional Engineer and a Corporate Member of the Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers. He holds a first-class honors degree in Civil engineering from the University of Sierra Leone. In 2016, Simeon served as Research and Teaching Assistant
for the same university and worked for an engineering company as head of geotechnical engineering unit, both positions he held until mid-2019. In 2021, he completed a master’s degree in Road and Transportation Engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana, under the Regional Transport, Research and Education Centre Kumasi (TRECK). He is the first Sierra Leonean to have been awarded the World Bank Africa Centre of Excellence (ACE) scholarship. In mid-2022, he received the academic achievement award from the engineering society, under the faculty of engineering, Fourah Bay College.
In 2023, Simeon received a six-month Doctoral Fellowship Award for African Researchers, at the India Institute of Technology, Madras, Chennai. Simeon is a motivated Road and Transportation Engineer with over 8 years of pre and post qualification experience in industry and academia. He is currently a Ph.D. research scholar in Highway and Transportation Engineering under the same TRECK program and university. His areas of interest include; public transport, urban transport planning, transport demand modeling, traffic engineering, transport data collection and analysis, statistical modeling and geotechnical analysis and design of earth and tailings dams. As part of his interest in research, Simeon has published a few academic articles and has made presentations at various local and international conferences, workshops, seminars and summer schools.
